The deal was quite attractive. It included:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>PS4 Pro console<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>4 PS4 controllers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>13 PS4 games<br><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At that time, the <strong>PS5 had already been released for about three years<\/strong>, while this PS4 Pro was already around <strong>seven years old<\/strong>. Some people might have suggested that I should just buy a PS5 instead.<br><br>But after considering it, I decided to go with the PS4 Pro. Why not? It came with four controllers and 13 games, and most importantly, my kids could enjoy playing together.<br><br><strong>The Kids Were Very Happy<\/strong><br>During the year-end school holiday, the kids happily played the PS4.<br>It was great to see them enjoying the games together.<br>But after only a few days&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The PS4 suddenly wouldn&#8217;t turn on anymore.<\/strong><br>Haha! \ud83d\ude05<br>At first, I thought:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Maybe this is the end of its life.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After all, this was already a seven-year-old console. And maybe this was also a good opportunity to stop the kids from playing too much!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So I didn&#8217;t immediately send it to a game shop for repair.<br>Instead, I put the PS4 in a drawer and left it there for a few months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Kids Asked Me to Fix It<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After some time, the kids started asking me again:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Dad, can you fix the PS4?&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They really wanted to play it again.<br>Eventually, I decided to bring it to a game shop and ask about the repair cost. I suspected that the problem might be the <strong>power supply<\/strong>, because my friend had previously replaced the power supply in this PS4.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The same game shop had also checked the console for my friend before. When my friend asked previously, he was told that the repair would cost around <strong>RM220<\/strong>.<br>But when I asked this time, the shop quoted me around:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>RM280<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I started thinking&#8230;<br>RM280 for repairing an old PS4 Pro?Maybe I should try fixing it myself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">I Decided to Buy the Power Supply<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Instead of paying the game shop RM280, I decided to buy a replacement power supply from Shopee and try to repair the PS4 myself. The replacement part I bought was:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>ADP-200ER PS4 Power Supply<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fangloong.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/33-rotated.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"405\" src=\"https:\/\/www.fangloong.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/33-1024x405.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3155\" style=\"aspect-ratio:2.443294837022109\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.fangloong.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/33-1024x405.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/www.fangloong.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/33-300x119.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.fangloong.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/33-768x304.jpg 768w, http:\/\/www.fangloong.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/33-500x198.jpg 500w, http:\/\/www.fangloong.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/33-rotated.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Price:<br><br><strong>RM116.95 \u2014 including delivery<\/strong><br>That was considerably cheaper than the RM280 repair quote. <br>Of course, there was still one problem&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Would I actually be able to fix it?<\/strong> \ud83d\ude05<br>I had never repaired a PS4 power supply before. Sometimes an old electronic device looks &#8220;dead&#8221;, but <strong>one failed component can be the whole problem<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Definitely a <strong>successful repair + money-saving experiment<\/strong>.<br><br>This is actually a good philosophy for your hardware projects: <strong>don&#8217;t be afraid of old machines\u2014use them as your training ground.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I Decided to Repair It Myself.Back in 2023, I bought a second-hand 2016 PlayStation 4 Pro 500GB from a friend.
